Thank you Lynn!

Wednesday afternoon when I came home from school, I found my prize from Lynn in my mailbox.
Here's what I got:
After seeing these cards, I'm going to be shopping at Kitchen Sink Stamps.  The strawberries look so real my son keeps trying to pull them off the card.
Yes, that's a whole 6x6 Basic Grey Paper Pad and a whole roll of Scor-Tape!
I was so excited, I made this card with my new paper:
I used this week's card sketch on SCS for the layout and the image is from Sweet Pea Stamps.
Stamps:  Sweet Pea Stamps - Spring Luna
Ink:  Memento - Tuxedo Black

1000 Years Waiting

Remember my crab card?  This card is for my second spot in that swap.  This stamp is from Sweet Pea Stamps and the name of the stamp is 1000 Years Waiting.  I wish I looked like her for 1000 years!  I had a lot of fun coloring her.  I used colored pencils and blended with baby oil.  Thanks for looking!

Eyelets, Ribbon, Paper - OH MY! Challenge #2

The second challenge for our blog group was to use ribbon (from your stash) as inspiration for a card.  My last card was a little "fussy," so I decided to go clean and simple!

Here are some close-ups:

I was very surprised when I visited Mary-Kate's Blog (Emkay Designs) and learned she gave me this award.  If you haven't seen her blog, you should really check it out.  She makes the prettiest patterned paper, and her current project "Russian Dolls" card is gorgeous!!  My husband even commented on how nice it looks (this is a man who thinks my hobby is silly, but puts up with it because it is cheaper than paying for therapy).

In order to accept this award, I have to tell you 10 things about myself, so here goes:

1)  I am a mom (2 boys).
2)  I teach in Catholic Schools (Washington, D.C.).
3)  I love crafting (paper and sewing).
4)  My mother is Korean, therefore I love Korean food.
5)  When I am out in public with my boys who have blonde hair and blue eyes, I get strange looks because I look Latina.
6)  I miss my '94 Ford Mustang (traded it in for a sensible 4-door sedan).
7)  I like to take walks after it rains in the summer.
8)  I went to Salisbury University (Salisbury, MD) so that makes me a "Seagull."
9)  I was never a "cat" person until I got my cat, Telly, 14 years ago.
10)  I also never thought I would get mixed up in the "cyber" world.  But I've made so many wonderful friends there, I've decided it's a nice place to be.

I pass this award on to the following people:
1)  Heather
2)  Cindy
3)  Lynn
4)  Lynn
5)  Betty
6)  La'Diva
7) Katie
8) Rona
9)  Robyn
10) Andrea

This card was made for another swap on SCS.  Yes, I've lost my mind.  That means I have to make more (4 more, because I have to keep one for myself).  I will be okay.  Coloring relaxes me, needless to say I will be very relaxed.  This stamp is from a company called Earth Art International (you can click to visit).  Sue makes amazing stamps, they have so many details.  You should visit, just for the eye candy.  I chose the crab image because I live in Maryland and we are known for our Blue Crabs (not to mention crabcakes).
Stamp: Earth Art International- Crab, SU Scallop Shell stamp from Beautiful Beach Set
Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black, coloring - Bic and Sharpie permanent markers
Paper: GP 110, Bazzill Dotted Swiss
Misc: scrap lace, 7 Gypsies Velvet flower, Bazzill 10mm brad, quilter's crystal head pin, shell made by me
This is a close up of the embellishment on the card.  I made the shell.  First I stamped the Scallop Shell on a piece of #6 recycled plastic (the carryout containers that recycling won't pick up), colored it, and cut it out.  Then I punched a hole for the pin (1/8" punch).  Next, I used my heat gun to shrink the plastic.  Finally, I put my crystal head pin through the hole.  Ta-da!

Diaper Clutch

This is a Diaper Clutch.  It only holds a few diapers and a couple of wipes so if you have to run a quick errand, you can grab this and go.  No need to take the BIG diaper bag.  There is a tutorial here.  I made mine a little more simply, I just used solid black quilted material and trimmed it with patterned material.  A friend is expecting this will be her gift.  Here are a few close-ups:
In this picture I put 4 - size 4 diapers inside.  Thanks for looking!

Eyelets, Ribbon, Paper - OH MY! Blog Group's First Challenge

Jenn (Jax Bean Stalks) is hosting our Blog Group's (Eyelets, Ribbon, Paper - OH MY!) first challenge.  The challenge - re-purpose a cereal, cookie, or cracker box.  I turned this cereal box into a notepad and pen holder.
This is the outside.
This is the inside.
This is a close-up of the image.  I covered the box with a piece of material I had left over from a previous project.  The image is also left over from another project.  I used Mod Podge to adhere the material to the box.  As happy as I am with the way this project turned out, I'm still in awe over the projects my blog-mates have created.  You should visit their blogs and see the wonderful things they have made.  A few examples are Lone Pine Designs' - Scrap paper holder and Confessions of a Left-Brained Stamper's ribbon holder (and she made a cute pencil/pen holder from toilet tissue tubes).  Thanks for looking!
Stamps:  Shirley's 2 Girls - "Note of Thanks"
Ink: Stazon
Paper: Bazzill Cardstock
Misc: material, Bazzill Big Blossom, Doodlebug flocked brad, Sharpie markers, RSVP pen, notepad

Birthday Cards

It has been over a week since I posted a project.  I've been (practicing) coloring.  I really like how coloring with Copic markers adds so much to a project.  Since they are a little pricey (but well worth it, I'm sure), I thought I should try simple (with colored pencils and baby oil) and advance from there.  Thanks for looking!
